Punakaiki is 46km from Greymouth (about a 40-minute drive) and 56km from Westport (about a 48-minute drive). Please note that Punakaiki is a very small village and does not have a petrol station (including any eV charging stations). The nearest petrol stations are in Westport or Greymouth so please factor this in when planning your journey.

There is an InterCity bus service that runs through Punakaiki (please check the InterCity website for the latest schedule as it is not currently running a daily service) - the bus stop is adjacent to the Pancake Rocks Cafe.

Checking in / Key Collection

When you arrive in Punakaiki and are ready to check in to the Motels, please proceed to the **Punakaiki Rocks Hotel & Garden Bar** which is located 450 metres from the Motels to collect your room key. The Hotel address is 13 Owen Street (corner of Owen Street and Punakaiki Road/State Highway 6).
Check-in is available from 2 pm until 9 pm seven days a week. If you’re going to be arriving after-hours please contact the Motel prior to arrival to make alternative arrangements.

Motel Unit location

Punakaiki Beachfront Motels consist of two separate motel blocks but are very easy to find. The helpful team at Punakaiki Rocks Hotel & Garden Bar will provide you with a map and directions to your unit.

Kiwi Motel Units (units 1-6):
Enter from 56 Punakaiki Road (State Highway 6), parking is available for each unit.

Tui Cabins (units 8-12) and The Cottage:
Enter from 4 Mabel Street (just off Punakaiki Road), parking is available for each unit.

Each block has signage at the entrance and rooms are clearly labelled. Please note - Google may try to instruct you to enter from Dickinson Parade. This road has been permanently closed and entrance to the guest rooms can only be made from the roads specified above.

Town amenities

Dining is available at the nearby Punakaiki Rocks Hotel & Garden Bar - open seven days a week for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The Pancake Rocks Cafe is available for Breakfast and Lunch (including takeaways). There are no grocery stores or dairies in Punakaiki so if you’re planning on self-catering during your stay the nearest stores are in Westport or Greymouth.
